About the Iris Circle

An iris is a six-petaled flower in a vast spectrum of colours, and the iris is also an important part of the eye.

It is a ring-shaped membrane inside the eye that surrounds the pupil in the centre. It contains muscles that allow the pupil to become larger and smaller, so it regulates the amount of light that enters the eye. In bright light it closes the pupil and reduces the amount of light entering, and in dim light it opens allowing more light into the eye. In addition, it is the iris where we see the extraordinary array of colours, from almost black to electric blue, often with brilliant contrasting flashes.

The iris flower, when given as a gift, conveys deep sentiments of wisdom, faith, hope, passion and purity. These sentiments are being brought to life by you, the donor, through your generosity towards Vision Australia.

Together, within the ring, or circle, of the iris, we allow light to enter the lives of people living with blindness or low vision to give them a brighter future.

You may never meet the people whose lives are changed by your kindness and thoughtful generosity, but joining Vision Australia’s Iris Circle allows us the opportunity to hold special events to recognise your generosity during your lifetime, when you are able to accept our sincere thanks and appreciation.

Iris Circle Events

Each year, we host an Iris Circle ‘Thank You’ event, which is a great opportunity to hear from our clients, staff and volunteers. It’s a great way to meet the people whose lives you are transforming every day.
