For more than 30 years Vision Australia has been bringing audio description to audiences across Australia.
Each year, Vision Australia’s audio describers bring hundreds of plays, operas and other stage performances to life for people who are blind or have low vision, as well as countless hours of TV and film.
But while audio description is vital in allowing people who are blind or have low vision to be fully immersed in what they’re experiencing, it’s not widely known exactly how the service works.
Michael Ward, Vision Australia audio description services manager, recently spoke to Sydney radio station 2GB and explained the ins and outs of audio description.
You can listen to the interview on the player below or on the 2GB website.
