There aren’t many people who understand what it’s like to go blind.
The challenges, the grief, the way people treat you differently. It’s hard to relate if you’ve not gone through it.
“If a sighted person tells you it’s ok you will get on with your life, you think, right, what would you know?” Paul Hedley says.
Paul went completely blind six years ago due to retina detachment and glaucoma.
He wondered if he could continue his career as an engineer and his hobby of restoring hot rods.
Things changed after Paul joined a Quality Living Group where he was able to share his feelings in a safe environment with others going through similar experiences.
Vision Australia’s Quality Living Groups are open to all people with a vision condition, and their carers.
