A very thoughtful tribute was held in Vision Australia's office in Albury to one of our clients, Len Spencer, who passed away in May this year.
In memory of Len, Kerry Strauch, and the Albury team, recently arranged for a room at the Albury office to be dedicated to Len - The Len Spencer Adaptive Technology Training Room.
Len's family and friends recently joined the Albury team with a ceremony, and the unveiling of the plaque.
Len was the leader and Chair of the Albury Local Client Group, and was the group's representative to the Regional Client Committee. For many years, Len was a volunteer peer, assisting others to come to terms with their vision loss through sharing his own experiences. At over 80 years of age, Len was also a champion of assistive technology. He attended TAFE and then Vision Australia adaptive technology classes, learning to use email, surf the net, and later, Skype. Len advocated and worked tirelessly for people in the Albury area, and was highly respected and valued by the community, and Vision Australia staff.
Len's wife Fay, and family, were very touched by the tribute. A very fitting and thoughtful gesture by Kerry Strauch and the team.
