Professor Ron McCallum AO, Deputy Chair of Vision Australia and Senior Australian of the Year 2011, talks to Qantas about his favourite place - the Vision Australia library.
An advocate and a role model within the blindness community, Professor McCallum has a long list of significant achievements. He was the first person who is blind to have been appointed a full professorship at any Australian university. He is also a former Dean of Law at Sydney University, Chair of 2RPH, President of Labour Law Association and Chair of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to name just a few.
In his role as Deputy Chair of Vision Australia Professor McCallum's expertise has resulted in excellent outcomes for Australians who are blind or have low vision. These achievements encompass advocacy, expansion of services, and the introduction of the revolutionary i-access ® project.
