Tony Porter
Vision Australia will soon be bidding adieu to one of our most skilled, versatile and longest-serving narrators. Tony Porter - a familiar face around Audio Production and a familiar voice to many of our clients - will be moving to the Gippsland Lakes at the end of 2011 to enjoy a well-earned retirement.
But he bid farewell to the Melbourne arts scene in grand last style last Tuesday 6th December, when he was the featured guest at Chapel Off Chapel's 'An Afternoon With...' The bi-weekly interview session had been hosted by Tony himself for the last eight years, but now the spotlight was turned upon him. Questioned for an hour by Chapel Off Chapel's manager Rachel Fothergill and new host Robert Chuter, he opened up about his early experiences as a journalist and actor, the fascinating array of guests he'd interviewed over the years, and his plans for the future.
Tony concluded the session by revealing a previously hidden talent for singing. Accompanied by skilled pianist Trevor Jones, he performed a rendition of a little known Gershwin song that provided a beautiful finale to a fascinating afternoon.
All of us at Vision Australia wish Tony and his family the very best for the future!
