2012 Giveback campaign has begun, which this year aims to donate up to $1 million to Vision Australia towards the construction of a new national Seeing Eye Dog training centre.
Vision Australia’s General Manager of Seeing Eye Dogs and Mobility, Leigh Garwood, said that once the new development in Kensington, Victoria, was complete, they would be able to match 100 people each year with a Seeing Eye Dog – an increase from the current 45.
The facility will improve the lives of many Australians who are blind or have low vision who are currently on long waiting lists to be matched to Seeing Eye Dogs.
“Eadie, one of our retired Seeing Eye Dogs, has been busily learning how to press CHQ or SAV at the checkout,” Mr Garwood said. “If Eadie can do it, then so can you.”
To support the eftpos campaign, simply press CHQ or SAV at the checkout. The donation amount will depend on eftpos transaction volume achieved during the eftpos Giveback period, up to $1,000,000.
Check out the footage of the excitable and very clever Seeing Eye Dog Eadie, carrying the large eftpos card in her mouth, up to the over-sized eftpos machine and pressing the cheque (CHQ) or savings (SAV) button.
