The Federal Government has warned people to beware of contact from anyone claiming to work for the Government who tries to make them pay an administration fee for access to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
"These claims are false," said Jenny Macklin, Minister for Disability Reform, in a statement warning people against the scam. "If people have been approached as a result of one of these calls they should report it to their local police."
There is no need for people to pay a fee to join the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
The first stage of the NDIS begins in July in five launch sites across Australia.
