Week one: Land and legacy
We journey deep into the heart of the country through outback tales, stories of survival, exploration, rural life and cultural displacement that shaped the Australian landscape and identity across centuries. These narratives, both fictional and factual, reveal the harsh beauty and deep tensions of the bush, including Indigenous voices reflecting on land, legacy and loss.
Week two: Journeys of belonging (stories of migration and identity)
We explore the many waves of immigration that have enriched Australia’s multicultural story from early colonial settlers to more recent refugee communities. These books reflect resilience, reinvention and the complex process of belonging, often inspiring adaptations for screen that bring these journeys to life.
Week three: A celebration across time (favourite Australian books and authors)
We celebrate the voices that have defined and redefined Australian literature: favourite books, beloved authors, and powerful poets. This is a week for personal favourites and national treasures alike, sparking conversations about what Australian literature means to each of us today.
