Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.
Coming up in January, Vision Australia’s Telelink program is hosting a series of special interest webinars including appearances from prominent figures in the blind and low vision community.
Sam is joined on the show this week by Telelink volunteer coordinator Jordan Ashby to tell us all about the special interest webinars taking place via Zoom over three Mondays in mid to late January, all at 2pm AEDT.
Kicking off the three special webinars is voiceover artist Alistair Lee on January 15, here to give participants an insight into his work on radio, TV and audio description services.
January 22 will see Jordan catch up with Steffanie Green, known to readers as Steffanie Holmes, the author of books such as You’re So Dead to Me and Of Mice and Murder, the latter of which was a winner of the USA Today Book Award.
Finally on January 29 you’ll hear from Joe Strechay, associate producer of the recent Netflix series All the Light We Cannot See, which has been nominated for a Golden Globe, and a prominent advocate for actors who are blind or have low vision in Hollywood.
“This is what we’re trying to get across, that these people who are appearing in the webinar series this January are people who are changing these perceptions of people who are blind or have low vision in mainstream media,” Jordan said.
“If people are interested in hearing from Alistair, Stef or Joe, and they’d like to sign up, the best way is to head to Vision Australia’s website at visionaustralia.org and search for Telelink summer series, we’re looking forward to seeing you all there,” he said.
