Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.
This week Sam was joined by blind soccer referee, coach and player Sebastian Petrovic, who caught up with us to talk about the recent national blind soccer series which took place in Melbourne.
Teams from interstate converged at the home of blind soccer in Tullamarine to compete in a two match series taken out by the locals from South Melbourne.
Sebastian loves to raise awareness for the game in schools and clubs across Australia and for him national series like these are a great way to get the word out there.
It’s also important to note that you don’t have to be blind or have low vision to play, Sebastian and many others are fully sighted but they want to share the game they’re passionate about with everybody regardless of their vision level.
“Having that perspective really gives me the passion to want to play a blind football game myself with other players who want to become a blind football player,” Sebastian said.
“I really feel like if I can expand that word out there that we can play blind football together and enjoy the game and help the future of the game, I really feel that’s important now,” he said.
