Vision Australia and Blind Low Vision NZ have partnered to launch a ground-breaking e-commerce platform designed to provide customers in New Zealand with greater access to assistive technology and other low vision aids and equipment.
The Vision Store NZ webshop is the result of a collaborative effort between the two organisations and leverages the latest technology to provide a seamless and user-friendly shopping experience. Designed with input from people with vision loss, the site features a range of accessibility features including high-contrast layouts, screen reader compatibility, and alternative text for images.
“We are excited to bring our products to the online community of New Zealand and provide an enhanced digital experience”, Michael Linke, Vision Australia general manager of commercial services, said.
“Our goal is to make online shopping more accessible and work with local service providers to ensure people get the training and support they need.”
This new site is an important step forward in efforts to make offerings more accessible and convenient to the blind and low vision community.
So if you have friends or family living in New Zealand, spread the word! They can visit shop.visionaustralia.org.nz and explore the latest products with expert advice to help them live the life they choose.
