International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.

A major focus of the Day is practical and concrete action to include disability in all aspects of development, as well as to further the participation of persons with disabilities in social life and development on the basis of equality.

By 3 December 2013, the UN will have the outcome document of the high-level meeting on disability and development (HLMDD) which was held at the end of 2011.

This document will provide a blueprint for action and ideal platform to launch global efforts to help realise the full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in society and shape the future of development for all.
